What is a forum?
A forum is a site which acts as a message board for people to have discussions about specific subjects. In a forum, a single discussion is called a “thread” and threads are organized hierarchically by general subjects as well as more specific topics. Forums require a user to register before they are permitted to post in a thread. Additionally, the message needs to be approved by a moderator before it can become published and visible in a thread.

What is a forum link?
A forum link can help boost SERP rankings because unlike chat rooms which are private, the content posted in forums is archived and scanned by search engines. As opposed to blog comment links which are placed in the comment itself, a forum link is placed using a registered user’s signature.
